សព្វថ្ងៃនេះរោងភាពយន្តមួយចំនួនក្នុងរាជធានីភ្នំពេញ បានកែប្រែរូបរាងទៅហើយ ។ រោងភាពយន្តគិរីរម្យ ដែលខ្ញុំបានចាត់ទុកថាជារោងកុនដ៏ធំជាងគេមួយ (មានកៅអីសរុប ៨០០កៅអី) ក៏បានបិទទ្វារដែរ ។ រីឯរោងកុនធំៗផ្សេងទៀត ដូចជារោងកុន បូកគោ បានកំពុងប្រែក្លាយមុខមាត់ទៅជាក្លិបកម្សាន្តបែបផ្សេងទៅវិញ ហើយរោងកុនវិមានទិព្វឯណោះវិញ កំពុងតែក្រៀមស្រកា ប្រហែលជានឹងបិទ ឬក៏នៅបន្តសកម្មភាពរបស់ខ្លួនទៀតឬយ៉ាងណា នៅមិនទាន់ដឹងទេ តែខ្ញុំសង្ឃឹមថាវិមានទិព្វនឹងមិនបិទទ្វារតាមគេនោះទេ ។
រោងកុនដែលកំពុងបញ្ចេញសកម្មភាពយ៉ាងសកម្ម នោះគឺរោងកុនលុច្ស (Cinéma Lux) ដែលភាគច្រើនមានបញ្ចាំងរឿងបរទេសយ៉ាងជាប់លាប់នៅពេលដែល ក្រុមហ៊ុនកុនខ្មែរមិនទាន់មានកុនបញ្ចាំង ។ ផងដែរ នៅឯមជ្ឈមណ្ឌលពាណិជ្ជកម្មសុរិយា រោងកុន ស៊ីណេម៉ាសុរិយា ក៏នៅតែបម្រើទស្សនិកជនជារឿយៗ ។
ទាំងនេះសឲ្យឃើញថា សិល្បៈទី៧របស់ខ្មែរកំពុងធ្លាក់ដុនដាបយ៉ាងខ្លាំង ស្ទើរតែមិនងាយនឹងងើបមុខឡើងវិញរួចក៏ថាបាន ។ ជាក់ស្ដែង កាលពីមហោស្រពភាពយន្តវីដេអូជាតិលើកទី៣ ដែលរៀបចំឡើងដោយ ក្រសួងវប្បធម៌ និងវិចិត្រសិល្បៈ នាថ្ងៃទី ០៩មករា២០០៨ កន្លងទៅនេះ លទ្ធផលដែលទទួលបាន គឺពុំអាចទទួលយកបានឡើយ ។ [...]

ពិតជាគួរឲ្យអាសូរវប្បធម៌ទី៧ខ្មែរណាស់ ងើបហើយដេកទៅវិញ។ តាមពិតក្នុងរយៈពេលជាង៥ឆ្នាំនេះដែលវិស័យភាពយន្តនៅរស់រានមានជីវិតក៏ដោយសារតែការដែលយើងឈប់ទទួលយកភាពយន្តថៃ កាលពីសម័យឆេះទូកថៃ។ យើងឃើញថា បន្ទាប់ពីមានការដុតទូតថៃ វិស័យសិល្បៈនេះបានមានដង្ហើមដកនឹងគេ តែឥឡូវចប់ហើយ មិនដឹងជាពេលណារស់ឡើងវិញទេ។

តាមការសង្កេត យើងឃើញថា បន្ទាប់ពីមានការដុតស្ថានទូតថៃនៅភ្នំពេញនៅឆ្នាំ 2003 មក វិស័យភាពយន្តខ្មែរបានចាប់ផ្ដើមងើបនិងរស់ឡើងវិញ។ ពេលនោះ អាចនិយាយបានថាជាសករាជមាសដូចសម័យផលិតកម្ម100ក្នុងអំឡុងទសវត្សឆ្នាំ90 អ៊ីចឹង។ គឺមានផលិតកម្មជាច្រើនសំរុកចូលរកស៊ីក្នុងវិស័យនេះ។ តែបញ្ហាគឺនៅត្រង់ថា ថៅកែកុនទាំងនោះ ផលិតដើម្បីតែលុយ ។ គឺមិនបានគិតពីគុណភាពទេ ។ នេះជាមូលហេតុដែលធ្វើឲ្យកុនខ្មែរគ្មានគុណភាព មិនអាចទាក់ទាញទស្សនិកជនបានច្រើន ដែលនៅទីបំផុតផលិតកម្មទាំងនោះត្រូវបិទទ្វារ។

រឿងលទ្ធផលកាលនោះ ខ្ញុំភ្លាត់ស្នៀតមិនបានចាប់យកព័ត៌មានឲ្យបាន តែដឹងថាលទ្ធផលវាអសោចគួរសម ធ្វើឲ្យអ្នកផលិតស្រងាកចិត្តមែនទែន ព្រោះលក្ខខណ្ឌតឹងរឹងពេកពេលប្រកួត ។ បើអាចខ្ញុំនឹងផ្សាយលម្អិតម្ដងទៀត ៚

I have tried to find out a scientific research on the film production in Cambodia, but there is no one on the web. Let share if there is any study or research on this topic.
From the above last two articles, I can summarize some of the problems as follows:
1. Cambodian films have poor quality due to many reasons including:
2. Money, and other resources;
3. Actors have not been trained, and most of them act upon what producers tell them to do on the spot;
4. Ideas behind each film are often easy to predict because of poor writing and direction;
5. And finally, these make Cambodian films unable to compete with foreign films.
Film production is a result of “ Collective Works” made by many people such as actors/actress, producers, writers, directors, singers/music composers, and others. It is not an easy one. One poor actor may lead to the failure of the whole production. Learn to work as a team is also important for the success of one film production. A questio is where we should start from here. Do we have a training school with qualified trainers and sufficient resources? Do we have a school which systematically trains producers and directors of film production? Do we have an incentive system (mainly granted by the government) to promote film production in Cambodia? Is copyright protection effectively implemented?
I think we should conduct a research to reengineer a process of film production in Cambodia, and then try to make a flow chart from the starting point to the ending point, and identify what the main problems are. Only by doing this, we can develop this film industry in a systematic way. Or alternatively, we can do a value chain analysis of film production in Cambodia. From this, we can lay down a promotion policy and put resources to implement this policy.

Hello! This is Mariam from Film Cambodia Organization (www.filmcambodia.org). I’m glad to have found your blog and see all the interest in Khmer films.
You’ll be interested to learn that we are hosting a seminar in April 2008, bringing more than a dozen film professionals to Phnom Penh to teach a two-week seminar of basic filmmaking skills. It’s a start. We plan to open a proper film school, but that will take a little more time to set up.
Also, Kirstin Wille from Germany came to Cambodia last year and spent six months doing research for her Masters Thesis on the film industry in Cambodia. The result is a 173-page research paper which is excellent. We have print copies available in Phnom Penh for anyone who would like one.
Since June 2007, we have published a newsletter (Mise en Scene) and in April we will be launching it as a magazine. We also send out a monthly e-newsletter and you can sign up on our homepage.
I would love to meet anyone who lives in Phnom Penh and is interested in film. It is encouraging to see so many responses to this blog!
